Italy, Soncin awarded in Vigevano: “The time has come to talk about football played by women”

One hundred years of sports stories dedicated to the magic of the Olympic Games to celebrate the Association International de la Presse Sportive (AIPS), founded in July 1924 on the eve of the Paris Olympics. This is the theme that was the underlying theme at the gala organized at the Cagnoni Theater in Vigevano in collaboration with the Italian Sports Press Union (USSI). Some of the greatest Italian journalists were present and with them also Andrea Soncin, born in the Lombardy municipality – like the president of the AIPS Gianni Merlo – and rewarded for his great correctness in relations with the press and for the positive image given to the his federal position.

The time has finally come to talk about football played by women and no longer about women’s football”, this is the most applauded passage of the speech by the Coach of the Women’s National Team, which has now entered the hearts of all fans. Soncin received the award from fellow citizen Merlo and USSI president Gianfranco Coppola, who then welcomed many sports journalists to the stage, in an evening marked by the notes of ‘Nessun Dorma’, the soundtrack of the event in homage to the centenary of the death of Giacomo Puccini.

Among these are the director of Rai Sport Jacopo Volpi, who received a lifetime achievement award, the deputy director of Sport Mediaset Lucia Blini, as well as Nicola Roggero of Sky and Matteo Pacor of Discovery.
