German-Courtois rift, the Football Federation tries to mend: the general manager flew to Madrid

The affair Courtois is still in fashion in Belgium and there are no signs that could suggest a rapprochement between the Real Madrid goalkeeper and coach Domenico Tedesco. The Football Federation, however, is trying to calm things down: in recent days, the new general director Peter Willems went to the Spanish capital to meet the expert player. It was a first contact to get to know the situation and the reflections of the goalkeeper in person, also given the air of renewal that can be felt in the Federation itself.

Courtois doesn’t play for i Red Devils from 17 June 2023, a qualifying match for the European Championships. Then came the serious knee injury that kept him out for almost a season, but he returned in time to win the Champions League (as a protagonist) and book a place for the European Championship. Tedesco, however, did not include him in the list and the player made it known that he would no longer wear the national team shirt if the coach of Italian origins remained at the helm.

A speech which, according to the Spanish press, was repeated in the conversation with Willems. In any case, the approach was positive and represents a first step towards re-establishing relationships. The fans, who do not understand why the best goalkeeper in the world is not considered in this moment of transition, hope that the situation will be resolved in the best way.
