On the sidelines of the “La Clessidra” award in Anghiari, in the province of Arezzo, the head of the technical area of Cesena Massimo Agostini spoke about the issue linked to the attackers: “The surprise is Retegui who when he was called up by Italy was not in these conditions. By moving from Genoa to Atalanta he perhaps changed his motivations, way of playing and the team he has around him. Gasperini is ideal for finalizing the team’s action.”
Is Kean no longer a surprise?
“It is becoming so this year. Seeing Kean now in these conditions in Florence, with eight goals scored, the physical arrogance this year is a satisfaction for us because we can try to win important matches with these attackers.”
Lukaku hasn’t taken off yet: what is he missing?
“Every now and then I talk to Neapolitan radio stations and they tell me these things. Since Lukaku has been in the team, however, Napoli have only lost against Atalanta. Lukaku, on an offensive level, manages the department on his own. Furthermore, he is good at assists and scored some important goals. He’s not yet in the condition Conte wants but I think his contribution up front is fundamental.”
Daniel Maldini, Lucca, Esposito are growing…
“I would also include our Shpendi. He is growing very quickly, he is a boy who has the culture of work, very polite and who wants to get there but by working. He is doing well, he is the top scorer of this Serie B. We are happy, we try to protect him and the coach makes him work to make him grow. He can be a striker who can be talked about in the future.”
Can he be ready for a leap to Serie A in January?
“Some teams will come knocking for information but I think the ownership’s intention until June is to keep him in Cesena. Then we’ll find out what happens in January in a bit.”
Camarda?
“He’s still young, he has yet to turn 17. He’s on the right path, he has characteristics that are difficult to find around at that age. If they call him to the first team he has something. I’m not saying he can be ready to make a championship at those levels but every now and then letting him taste the first team and letting him trample on San Siro is an injection of confidence for the boy. He will become a champion.”
Ranieri will most likely go to Roma.
“In my opinion it is an important and strategic move. They could perhaps have thought about recalling De Rossi but Ranieri’s call, if it were true, could be important for the environment also because he is a coach capable of changing the fortunes of a team which, unfortunately at the moment he is not doing his duty.”
How can you explain Milan’s ups and downs?
“They can be explained by the team they are. A young team with some players who aren’t performing at their best for the 90 minutes, a coach who is trying to fix some situations at a defensive level or from midfield upwards. But at the moment those three-four players who he thinks can make the difference are still not performing at their best.”
