The American midfielder Sergiño Dest spoke today at Sky Sports of his experience in Holland and beyond: “PSV is a big club, of course, but I have a lot of ambitions and I know what I can do. I feel that my level should be in the top five leagues, so I’m working very hard for that. I’m I have been to many beautiful places and I want to return to these beautiful places.”
In the meantime, he’s working to get back into shape and stay busy. “Always busy,” he said shortly after the inauguration of a football pitch in his hometown of Almere, near Amsterdam. For the children there, his success is an inspiration. “I thought about it years ago, but I think this was the right time to do it. It’s amazing to create your own legacy, to put my field, my name in the world.”
The experience at Barcelona and that at Milan: “Everything went really quickly, but I appreciated every single minute. Entering that locker room, playing against Real Madrid, winning the Copa del Rey. Milan? For me it was a great mistake. Obviously, it’s a beautiful club, but I wasn’t ready at that moment to go there, mentally. At that moment, my heart was still in Barcelona and I couldn’t really focus on the next stage things happened the way they happened.”
