The organizational chart of Lyon has changed quite a bit, as it announced several new features on its official website: “Olympique Lyonnais is proud to announce a decisive phase in the transformation of its sports organization with the appointment of Matthieu Louis-Jean to the role of technical director, within a renovated sports structure. The new team will work closely with president John Textor and Laurent Prud’homme, general manager of Olympique Lyonnais. At the urging of president John Textor, Matthieu Louis-Jean joined OL in the summer of 2023 as director of recruitment. He now takes charge of a completely renewed team, which will be significantly strengthened in terms of both human and material resources. Matthieu Louis-Jean will continue to take care of recruitment, ensuring its consistency.
Thanks to a solid experience in European football, he has gained legitimacy within the club. With his internal work, he contributed significantly to the performance of the professional team last season, during which they aimed for European qualification. In this key role, Matthieu Louis-Jean will be the driving force behind all initiatives related to sporting performance, to bring excellence back to the center of the project that will have to bring OL back to the top.
Furthermore, Jean Sudres was appointed Director of Sports Administration. Present in the club for 14 years, he was the creator of numerous technical dossiers, whether sporting, legal or disciplinary. Jean Sudres will consolidate our management team, ensuring efficient management within Olympique Lyon. Matthieu Louis-Jean and Jean Sudres will be joined by Michael Gerlinger in his role as Director of Football within Eagle Football, who will continue to play a crucial role in our global strategy, in synergy with John Textor and Laurent Prud’homme. This new organization will have the task of coordinating the structure dedicated to football recruitment and administration, which will bring together all sporting sectors related in particular to performance, data, the medical sector and the academy.
Finally, the club is pleased to welcome Daniel Congré as sports coordinator. A former defender with almost 500 professional games under his belt, Daniel Congré will bring his experience as a player. He will strengthen our technical team by collaborating with Pierre Sage and working to implement the sporting strategy in direct contact with the players. Olympique Lyon is pleased to project itself with determination towards the future, continuing to build a competitive European club deeply linked to its values.”
