Former midfielder Massimo Bonini spoke at the ‘La Clessidra’ award held this evening in Anghiari, in the province of Arezzo. “The team counts, we all have to be gregarious in the game of football. Today it’s even worse, even those with great talent must know how to help the team. And few people make the difference.”
Who is the favorite for the Scudetto?
“I say Inter, but this championship could be like the one won by Verona. An outsider, perhaps… I really like to see Lazio and Atalanta, for example, not listed as winners but playing good football. I hope that those who play the best football”.
Do you regret Kean for Juventus?
“It’s hard to say regret. You have to look at the end of the season, now it’s going very well… It was certainly needed, there’s only Vlahovic. I hope whoever is at Juve can do well, but I think Giuntoli will intervene to get another player attacker. In addition to the defender”.
Does Thiago Motta impress you in his growth?
“It surprised me, I like it a lot because it talks about football and it’s not banal. Last year I saw Bologna several times and they played great football. Even when they kept the best players out they played well, whoever took the field knew what to do. “The coach has to make things simple for the players. Bologna played well, I also see a proactive idea of play in Juve, despite having changed a lot, I hope they can achieve results even if it’s not easy this year.” .

“In my opinion we have to wait for it. There are players who need to settle in… He is a very talented Brazilian, I believe that Motta still needs to know his players well and is trying different solutions. He too could be useful: now he is criticized because they spent a lot for him, but in midfield Juventus needs someone who is talented, who scores goals and beats opponents and he has all these characteristics.”
Has Italy started a new course?
“Spalletti has changed a lot, he is no longer a coach but a selector. And it’s different to coach a club or a national team: in one case you make your mark, in the other you have to take the fittest ones. And it seems to me he understood this: l ‘Italy plays well and is proactive.”
