As stated on the official Juventus website, from yesterday, Thursday 7 November 2024, “in the splendid collection of the Juventus Museum, there are two more shirts to represent, remember and tell the Juventus history. Those of Pauline Peyraud-Magnin and Sofia Cantore after both players reached an important milestone in their careers with Juventus Women a few weeks ago, in the space of four days: 100 matches as a team.
As always, the Museum gave them a well-deserved recognition, in the presence of President Gianluca Ferrero, Stefano Braghin, Women’s Football Director, and Paolo Garimberti, president of the Juventus Museum.
Pauline made her 100th appearance in black and white in the UEFA Women’s Champions League match on 16 October against Bayern Munich, becoming the first goalkeeper in the history of our women’s team to do so and symbolically closing the circle again in an international match, after having opened it in his debut match in black and white against Kamenica Sasa in summer 2021.
If Peyraud-Magnin was the thirteenth Juventus player to reach 100, the fourteenth to rejoice for such a result was Sofia Cantore in the championship match against Inter on 20 October in Milan – the icing on the cake in this extraordinary start to the season for the player born in ’99”.
So here are the words of Cantore herself: “I am happy and proud to have reached this goal. I am happy to have done it in this season which started very well both on a team and personal level. It is exciting to think that from today my shirt will found in the Juventus museum. 100 appearances are a lot: this is the culmination of a journey that began seven years ago and has gone through personal growth made on loan. I hope it is a good example for the girls who come to visit Juventus will see our shirts on display.”
Then there is room for Peyraud-Magnin: “For me it is a great honor to be part of this family. It is incredible to be a piece of this history, I am very happy and excited, being here, in this Museum, is something incredible: I have experienced many good feelings over the years and they have all been important for my journey at Juventus, but I can say that today is one of the best moments of my career. This season has started very well, we hope it continues to get better and better and we are working for this reason. Being back in the Women’s Champions League is fantastic, it is something we needed because it is the competition in which the maximum expression of football is present and for us it is very important to be part of it.”
In conclusion, here is Braghin: “It is always a pleasure to make the girls protagonists in what is first of all a tribute of loyalty to the Club. Sofia reached the age of 18 which was a hope, she took a path that led her to live also experiences outside, and now she is a pillar of Juventus and the national team, she is an example for the younger girls Pauline joined us a few years ago at a particular moment in her career, and here she was able to experience a great journey of restart and rebirth. : furthermore, she is the first goalkeeper in our history to reach this goal, she is one of the greatest in the world in her position, and if we gave her the opportunity to relaunch herself and experience 100 matches together, she gave us the opportunity to seeing a champion in action. These achievements are thanks to the girls, the club and the team.”
