Marco Di Vaio, sporting director of Bolognaspeaks to the media present (including us at TMW) on the sidelines of the Viareggio Sport Award: “We are always honored and happy to receive awards, especially after a historic year for our club. Tomorrow we play in the Champions League, let’s hope it brings us luck”.
Are you having the championship you expected?
“Yes. We knew about the difficulties, especially due to the change of coach which is always very complicated. We started again with a new project, when this is the case you can usually work with more time in the week and instead we don’t have that. The boys learn a lot things directly in matches, growth is slower but with Italiano we have undertaken an important path, we are convinced of this. Now we are patient, let’s face the Champions League with enthusiasm and let’s also put this into the championship to try to stay in Europe”.
And you have one more Ferguson.
“We are very happy to have found an important and charismatic player like Lewis, who made an immediate impact from the first moment he took over. We hope he can give a great hand between now and the end of the season.”
Can he help you in your efforts with scoring goals?
“It’s done with work. We have many young people, strong players up front who still have to understand the methodology and fit into the championship. Scoring goals isn’t easy, there’s a lot of work to do.”
What championship are you watching?
“Nice, very open, no one proves to be too far ahead of the others. There is great competition, ideas, new players, I think everything will be open until the end”:
Retegui and Kean, as a former striker, what impressions are they leaving on you?
“I’m happy for the national team that has two players back who do well consistently and can carry the weight of the attack. Welcome to them.”
What is the moment for the national team?
“Rebirth and construction, Spalletti is building on different foundations. And the work is not the same for him either, I must say that he has courage in trying new ideas and players. He deserves credit for this, patience is needed.”
