Samardzic: “Gasp only asks you to advance and stay calm. That’s why I chose Atalanta”

Lazar Samardzic he has clear ideas and has never had any doubts about where he wanted to continue his career: Atalanta is the choice of a path that aims to overcome his own limits. In the interview given to Changing Room Chroniclesthe young Serbian talent reveals his relationship with Mister Gasperini and his teammates, his footballing roots and the growth that brought him to Bergamo. A conversation – reported by TuttoAtalanta – which highlights Samardzic’s authentic and determined side, focused on continuous improvement and what football represents for him.

On the choice of Atalanta: “When sporting director D’Amico called me, I knew I wanted to come here. I had no hesitations because Atalanta is a team in which many players really manage to develop their potential. I had high expectations about what Gasperini would ask to me and to the team, and I have to say that he satisfied them all. I really like his mentality: he always insists on one concept, which is to bring the ball to the attackers and face the game with serenity.”

On the role: “With Atalanta I discovered a positioning on the pitch that allows me to advance more than in Udine, and I feel at ease. If I had the choice, I would like to play high on the right, because from there I can return to the left and attempt the shot. I want to improve in many areas, but especially in physical duels: I know that at the moment I win fewer matches than I would like and I’m working on it.”

On relationships with classmates: “I got along well with several teammates, but I particularly bonded with Kolasinac, Vlahovic and De Ketelaere. Charles is an example for me: he is a player who always aims to improve with constant commitment, and I believe he is a model of determination and seriousness in the field”.
