“I feel good in Paris, now I feel very good also due to the birth of my son. I feel like one of the leaders of the team and I dream of winning the Champions League, when I arrived at PSG there was an obsession but it shouldn’t weigh on us too much.” Words of Gianluigi Donnarummainterviewed exclusively by Sportmediaset: “As far as Ligue 1 is concerned, it will be difficult this year because I know De Zerbi (he coaches Marseille, ed.) but we also have a great coach like Luis Enrique.”
You are now a leader of PSG. Do you feel this responsibility?
“Yes, because at the moment I am one of the few who has lived here for several years. They are almost all very young guys who have just arrived. So I feel the responsibility of giving something to the new ones. Then fortunately we have a captain (Marquinhos, ed.) who has been here for many years and who is a very good captain, keeps us all in line, helps the new youngsters grow. But I feel a bit of responsibility because I feel obliged to give something to the new guys too.”
Do criticisms weigh on you every now and then or do they just slide over you?
“I’m very self-critical of myself. At the end of the match I always try to understand what I can do better, what could have been done more, perhaps on a goal conceded. In the last period, since I left Italy, I’m a little ‘Too targeted, this is a bit annoying. But now I have broad shoulders, I’ve been playing for many years so I know how it works and I know what I have to do to stay in my bubble.”
