Ambrosini on the exclusion of Leao: “With Udinese a signal, yesterday a technical choice”

Massimo Ambrosini analyzed Milan’s defeat yesterday in the ‘Radio Serie A’ studios: “Milan didn’t play a bad match against Napoli, especially in the first half. But they gave back a bit of the feeling of defensive fragility and were less determined than Napoli in the last 20 metres. In the second half, the performance of Fonseca’s team has weakened a bit and this Milan leaves a few question marks while Conte’s, on the other hand, already seems like a done and finished team.”

Then in another passage Ambrosini added: “What Milan lacked in the first part of the season was a certain team spirit. Yesterday the team rebelled against Lukaku’s goal, but now we have to make choices. On the first goal the two central defenders were not in a good place : Fonseca now has to choose the two centre-backs, he can’t rotate every time, who was out yesterday due to injury and has now become the most reliable centre-back… Having said that, Milan are starting to lose a few too many points.”

On the exclusion of Rafael Leao: “Having Leao play yesterday meant putting Okafor as an attacking midfielder. If the first bench was a sign, yesterday’s was a technical choice. But in the long term we can’t think of doing without Leao. Certainly he too he must help himself. The key must be found so as not to give the boy a further alibi: when it happens that the strongest player in the team is out it is a sign, now there are Monza and Real Madrid and a key must be found to reintroduce him.”
