12 wins in 14 games, a lead of +6 over Real Madrid and 47 goals already scored: this is how Flick took over Barça

Twelve victories and only two defeats in fourteen matches of the season, first place in the Liga at +6 on Real Madrid, already 47 goals scored and an average points of 2.57 per game. So mister Hansi Flick he took over Barcelona in a matter of months, going from being Xavi’s awkward successor to the new Blaugrana leader. The German coach used all his experience and charisma to revive the team mentally, first and foremost Robert Lewandowski. And the numbers, with the exception of the knockout on his season debut in the Champions League at Monaco (2-1) and the unexpected 4-2 suffered in the league at Osasuna, are all in his favor.

The last three results, in particular, have inflamed the people culé: 5-1 against Sevilla, 4-1 against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and above all the poker handed to Real Madrid at the Bernabéu in the first Classic of this season. This Barça is a goal machine that doesn’t seem to have any intention of stopping: striker Lewandowski has already scored 17 goals, a Raphinha who has never been so decisive has already scored 10 and the very young Yamal continues to grow impressively (in addition to the 6 goals signed, there is so much quality in its performances). To all this we must add a newfound defensive solidity which at this moment of the season sees the Blaugrana rearguard being pierced only on 13 occasions in the championship and various cups.

The love story between Flick and Barcelona began not well, but very well. The hope, in a Blaugrana way, is that the idyll can continue, but Gavi’s return from a long injury, the progressive inclusion of Dani Olmo and the growth of Pedri, who is finally returning to his levels, certainly give rise to hope. Barça is back and much of the credit goes to the 59-year-old from Heidelberg.
