These are the words of the Genoa coach Alberto Gilardinowho spoke to DAZN after his boys’ 3-0 defeat against Lazio at the Olympic stadium in Rome, a match valid for the 9th matchday of the Enilive 2024/2025 Serie A.

You did well at the beginning of the first and second half. Could this be a starting point after this perhaps too broad result?
“We held out well until Lazio’s second goal. We started the second half well and played our game but we knew that our moment of difficulty might not help us face Lazio in this stadium. We must move on immediately.”
There are many players missing up front, is it starting to be complicated to carry on like this?
“This is a moment of enormous difficulty. I just spoke to the team and we are called to a very difficult mission. I have to get 110% out of the guys I have available, holding on to the result with attitude and sacrifice.”
Tomorrow should be Balotelli’s day. What was the thing that made you choose Mario?
“The assessments were made on the spot, when going to view a player like him. It’s natural that if he comes to Genoa with those motivations, will, fire and desire to make himself available, he can give us a lot. We know that he certainly won’t be the one to solve all our problems but little by little he will put in the time and be able to help us. We hope it can arrive but the value of the whole team will be decisive. All the champions we want can arrive but the value is in the collective and we must have motivation and the desire to do well.”
