5.41pm – Marco Baroni’s press conference has begun

What makes you most satisfied?
“The performance of the team, mature and with a great mentality. These are difficult matches, you have so few hours of recovery that even in terms of energy you have to draw on extra resources. The team did it well, it wasn’t easy because they kicked a lot and we couldn’t give rhythm to the match. We were always in control of the match, I saw some players in difficulty in the second half and I made the changes. I’m happy because the three goals came from Noslin who hadn’t played for a long time and from two substitutes This is nice because whoever comes in comes in at the most important moment of the match, the fact that this group is all fired up is important.”

How satisfied are you with Noslin’s performance?
“I know Noslin’s potential and he has to grow. You saw the goal he scored, these are things he does in training. There are players who were previously the most important in their teams and now they have players as good as them in front of them, they have to grow in their work daily and I’m happy.”

Are you finding the right balance in the defensive phase too?
“The team works to attack, we want to attack because we have the players to do so. This is a small disadvantage compared to even important teams who choose to play a solid game. This team is at its best when it attacks and goes strong on the outside, we have quality. Then we don’t take many shots, this means that the team has to defend by running forward, we can’t defend low otherwise I would have to put other players on the pitch. The team understood that there was a moment in the match where we had to manage it better ball, we put three midfielders and we found balance on the pitch. We are also working on this situation and we can also rely on this solution.”

How is Pedro handling it?
“I’m not surprised by Pedro, he’s a player who trains so hard and is so well physically that he’s extraordinary. He’s also had very few injuries, I don’t want to say it otherwise I’ll be in bad shape (laughs, ed.). The players don’t see themselves because of that they have, but for what they give. He gives a lot in the game and in training, we rub our eyes. Then he also has to be managed, but how am I managing the others. He trains like a 27 year old.”

Can you give us an update on Lazzari? Are there any goals missing from the attackers?
“Lazzari will have a check-up tomorrow and we hope to have him back. The team is working and Taty had opportunities today too, I also consider the wingers as attackers because they have to come onto the pitch. Tchaouna could have scored two goals in ten minutes, he has a shot and I have to take it on the pitch. We also often ask him to change positions, I’m not worried, in fact the whole department is working well as a team.”

Can this team fight for the Champions League until the end?
“You must excuse me, I am a man of doing and not of saying. We must do and work, but we are ambitious. We, the city and the square, as well as society, want to do well but we know that we must move from growth what the team is doing. We must always give everything, the beautiful thing about this team is that it spends itself and gives everything.”

Is there still any boy who can grow up?
“The boys are working hard, I have never worked with just eleven players. I have gotten my greatest satisfaction from those who have played less, there will always come a time when you will need those who have played less. There are some guys who needs a different path and who has changed roles, Tchaouna for example has often played as a striker, in the French under 21 team he has always played as a winger and can do it, same thing for Dele-Bashiru. There is such participation and such help from my teammates that I know that all of them will give us a lot this season.”

How is the team physically?
“It wasn’t a high-paced match and to do that you need both teams, they often kicked long and we had to restart. They were waiting for us lined up with two narrow lines, there was great coverage of the pitch. Genoa played a good match complicated for us from a defensive point of view, it wasn’t easy to find spaces. The team was good and patient, we always had control of the match except for those five minutes before the substitutions. We then immediately found order and dribble, finding the conditions for scoring goals. The team is doing well because they have the right enthusiasm, I don’t allow them to go out of line. We have to go through work and attention to detail, they can’t go any further.”
