Lazio, two goals in one week for Isaksen: the Dane is looking for confirmation

“This boy is strong and must be launched, I have a lot of faith in him. The responsibility is mine, he has to go on the pitch and have fun. It’s a journey he has to follow, but in my opinion he will do well this season.” Marco Baroni spoke like this a month and a half ago Gustav Isaksen before the championship match against Verona. The Dane is growing week after week and in the last ten days he has scored his first goal for the national team and his first European goal in a blue and white shirt. Two first times that perhaps can definitively unlock him, in what is a fundamental growth path for Lazio’s season. If Isaksen can also make an impact in the offensive phase then Baroni’s quartet of forwards can truly be even more unpredictable and make Lazio one of the loose cannons of this season.

Mister Baroni’s trust

After the match in Enschede, speaking to Sky, it was Isaksen himself who underlined how much the trust of Barons is fundamental: “I’m finally well and I feel confident. Last season helped me settle in, it’s not easy to move from the Danish league to Serie A. Football is totally different, faster and more competitive. The coach is giving me a lot of trust and I always try to reciprocate it with my performances on the pitch. We like the way of playing, the offensive game excites us.” An exaltation certified by the numbers, as demonstrated by the eight matches out of eleven of the season with at least two goals scored by the Biancocelesti. Last year, to reach eight games with at least two goals scored, they had to wait until the last game of 2023, the 25th of the season in all competitions. The attack will be the key again tomorrow against Genoa at the Olimpico, Baroni will confirm the offensive quartet with Isaksen and Zaccagni alongside Dia and Castellanos seen in the last three Serie A outings.
