Pres. Sestri Levante: “Calendar is not benevolent. More criteria is needed on midweek shifts”

“The computer was not kind to us when drawing up the calendarsalso considering Arezzo last Friday we have five challenging matches in a row without a moment’s respite.” The president of Sestri Levante Stefano Risaliti from the columns of 19th century he talks like this about the next challenges that await the Ligurian team: “It might sound like a justification but it isn’t because, as I have already said and as I will repeat again to the players and technical staff, it is in adversity that the value of the individual and the group is measured. I asked them for maximum commitment, to give every last drop of sweat for the shirt.”

Then there is room for the most heartfelt match of the five, the derby with Virtus Entella: “How can you say that we are favorites over Entella because we play a day earlier? You have to look at three races in one week. We’re going to Campobasso, a 10-hour trip on the way there and the same on the way back, which means arriving on Sunday in the middle of the night. Instead Entella goes to Pontedera, a trip of an hour and a half at most, with an opponent who precedes us in the standings. In the midweek round we play at home against Ternana immediately on Tuesday, while Entella plays against Lucchese on Wednesday. I don’t see any big advantages for us”.

Finally, a criticism of the midweek shifts: “I continue to have strong doubts about their usefulness, but if they cannot be done without them, I would like them to be chosen wisely”.
