Inter, Inzaghi: “On a pitch like this it’s another sport. Juventus? Let’s recover our energy”

Simone Inzaghi, Inter coachspoke in the mixed area after the Champions League victory on the Young Boys pitch. Below are his statements collected by TMW: “The truth lies in the middle… We did well, in a match that wasn’t easy. We found a physical team, we knew that there would be many duels on this pitch. In other years, other Italian teams here had struggled, but the boys were on track, except for that restart in the second half we didn’t concede too dangerous shots, if anything a few too many dead balls.”

Have the injuries had an impact?
“Of course, but tonight we had a lot of dangers. Starting from the pitch: on this pitch it’s a different sport. I thought the boys struggled more technically, in the second half we had four sensational scoring opportunities.”

How important is it to have players like Thuram?
“Barella said it well, I heard it from the changing rooms: what makes you win is the strength of the group, of the whole Inter team and not just Thuram. Today’s five substitutions were fundamental.”

Now comes Juventus.
“We know what this match represents for the club and for the fans, we will try to recover the energy and strength spent tonight, in an expensive match. Unfortunately we lost Carlos Augusto, who had a small problem and the rotations are a bit limited. We have to get to November in the best possible way.”

Did you expect more from anyone?
“I’m very happy with the performance. Probably at some moments the distances were lost, but they raised the ball a lot on the physical attackers and this risk was there. Well done guys, after three games having 7 points with zero goals conceded is an excellent path “.
