How important was Roma’s victory and how difficult is this match two days before Juventus?
“We’re very happy to have won in Rome, but it’s something in the past and we’re thinking about tomorrow. It won’t be easy, we’ll need a lot of concentration. After winning tomorrow we can talk about Juventus.”
Your goal?
“We want to win every match we play, in all competitions. Winning the scudetto again, this is our goal.”
The main difficulty on a defensive level?
“Many people said that we weren’t as good defensively as last year, but football isn’t that simple. You can’t just think about conceding zero or two goals, we’ve improved from many points of view” .
What is it like working with Sommer?
“He is an excellent goalkeeper, he gives me a lot of certainty and gives me a lot of confidence to play with him.”
How much do you feel improved?
“I came from Denmark to one of the biggest clubs in Europe and I can always learn. I have done a lot on a defensive level and I will do it again, I have raised the level and I think I can raise it further. It doesn’t matter the position: if the Mister tells me to play fifth or on the left, I don’t care, I play where he tells me.”
Do you think you have closed the gap with Pavard?
“It’s not easy when you have important players in the same position as you, he’s a player of the highest level and there’s competition. I knew I was at a disadvantage due to his greater experience and I think I’ve recovered a little, the important thing is to repay the trust the coach and I think I have done so. I will always respect his decisions, but I think I can expect to play a little more having improved my performances.”
A boy like Palacios has arrived at Inter, are you helping him?
“It’s not easy for him, I’ve been in the same position as him. I would like to help him more, if only there wasn’t the language barrier. After the first four months I played maybe seven minutes, but you always have to think about improving because in In Italy the level is very high. I learned from Pavard and Darmian, I think Tomas is intelligent and will do the same thing, sooner or later the coach will give him space.”
