Historic turning point for Udinese? Russian tycoon Lomakin is negotiating the club with Pozzo

Possible historical turning point at Udinese: president of the Friulian club since 1986, Giampaolo Pozzo could sell the club. Today’s edition of ‘Corriere dello Sport’ reported the news, which also talks about the possible new owner: it is Sergey Lomakin51 years old. Russian tycoon but with a Cyprus passport, he has a personal fortune of 1.7 billion dollars which places him in 1,951st place in the Forbes ranking of the richest men on the planet. Lomakin – we read – has already started negotiations with the Pozzo family

Resident in Cyprus (a fundamental detail to avoid ending up on the blacklist like other Russian entrepreneurs), Lomakin lives in the Buji Khalifa tower, in Dubai. Founder of Fix Pricea discount chain with around four thousand locations in Russia, Georgia, Belarus and Latvia, has retail sales as its core business.

He is no novice in the world of football as he currently owns three clubs: RFS Riga in Latvia, Pafos in Cyprus and Rodina Moscow, a Russian Serie B team. The ‘New York Times’ some time ago defined it: “Eastern Europe’s answer to the City Group”, alluding to its network of clubs. And now this network could expand: Udinese is in the crosshairs.
