Juventus-Lazio 1-0 (86′ author Mario Gila)
Juventus report cards (by Giacomo Iacobellis)
By Gregory 6 – Only one save, not even a demanding one, on Guendouzi’s central shot after 20 minutes. For the rest, the Juventus goalkeeper lived another evening as a mere spectator.
Savona 5.5 – The full-back born in 2003 is confirmed as the starter by coach Thiago Motta, already reaching eight appearances this season. This time in his area he has a very difficult client in Nuno Tavares, who often suffers – and even gets a yellow card. The real blemish, however, is the error that in the 47th minute allows Castellanos to recover a bloody ball and almost create a scoring opportunity (From 54′ Weah 6.5 – He enters with the right approach and in just five minutes he brushes the right ball over Douglas Luiz’s head to unlock it: the ball goes out, but so much running and dynamism for the son of art).
Cats 6 – Rocky in the defensive phase, controls the ball well Taty and looks for the shot at the end of the first half: ball high over the crossbar (From the 72nd minute Danilo 6 – The Brazilian champion enters the last twenty minutes bringing the right amount of experience and personality to the pitch).
Kalulu 6.5 – Not making Bremer regret it is really, really complicated, but the former Milan player also plays a good match against Lazio and also does what is not usually asked of a defender: getting Romagnoli sent off for a foul on a clear scoring opportunity, inevitably changing the inertia of the race.
Cabal 7 – He keeps good guard over Isaksen, who makes him feel his studs already in the 18th minute. Proactive even in the offensive phase: don’t ask him to shoot from outside the area (the ball he kicked in the 46th minute is probably still flying over the globe), but he has the great merit of propitiating Mario Gila’s own goal which decides the contest.
Locatelli 6.5 – Providential in resolving Savona’s mess at the start of the second half, he is among the most belligerent in Juventus. The defensive duel with Guendouzi is all to be experienced, while in the build-up phase he puts two inviting balls into the area for Vlahovic. Booked for hitting the Taty and perhaps also for this reason replaced (From 55′ Fagioli 6 – He adds quality to the Juventus siege of the second half, also seeking personal glory with a fireball from outside the area that seriously challenges Provedel).
Thuram 5.5 – Definitely more in the shadow than Locatelli, even if the first jolt of the match came thanks to his personal initiative in the 7th minute. As he himself acknowledged before the match, he knows that he can and must still improve a lot to be up to this Juve team and Giuntoli’s summer investment (From 73′ Adzic 6.5 – The 18-year-old Montenegrin has a great desire to eat up the Stadium, as can be seen from the courage and personality with which he faces his debut in Serie A. He almost doesn’t even find the goal in the 87th minute: Provedel deflects his shot into a corner, Juventus fans applaud their possible new favorite of tomorrow. Your posture says it all, Motta dixit).
Cambiaso 6 – The fourth captain of the Thiago Motta era puts his heart into it, as usual. Gatti’s cross was well calibrated at the end of the first half, he communicated well with Vlahovic and did not give up solitary incursions.
Douglas Luiz 6 – It shifts like a diesel, gaining confidence especially in recovery. It’s a shame for that header in the 59th minute from Weah’s cross from the right: the Brazilian, all alone in front of Provedel, sensationally sent it wide. However, he was asked to be more proactive, and he certainly was.
Yildiz 5.5 – The Turkish talent is not very incisive, giving the impression of being able to build something dangerous when he has the ball at his feet, but in the end he never succeeds.
Vlahovic 5.5 – You can’t tell him that he’s out of Juve’s game or that he’s not trying. Far from it. He fights like a lion with the biancoceleste defense, looking for both personal flair and finishing for his teammates. But the facts speak for themselves… He kicks out the free kick won by Kalulu when Romagnoli was given a red card, misses the target with his header following a pass from Locatelli and controls poorly in the area following an invitation from Douglas Luiz. The crossbar hit in the 57th minute with Provedel beaten was sensational. And we could continue.
Thiago Motta 6.5 – His Juventus dominates Lazio for almost 90 minutes. No surprises at the initial training level, he also chooses the right men to shake up the recovery even more during a siege that seems haunted. At the end of the day these are three fundamental points, for the performance, for morale and for the standings (current first place with Napoli of the great former Antonio Conte).
Lazio report cards (by Paolo Lora Lamia)
Provedel 6 – Despite Juve’s increasingly pressing presence near his area, he does not have to make any major interventions. More busy in the second half, when he was pierced only by his teammate Gila.
Marusic 6 – The most blocked of Baroni’s two full-backs, he carries out his defensive duties diligently. Not flawless in his scoring action.
Gila 5 – A blemish at the end was a tough performance up to that point, with the clumsy deflection from Cabal’s cross costing his team the defeat.
Romagnoli 5 – His intervention against Kalulu put an end to his evening, marking a negative turn for Lazio.
Nuno Tavares 7 – The best of his team, who always creates panic with his runs to the left. He gives everything until the end, then exits due to injury. From 78′ Pellegrini sv.
Guendouzi 6.5 – He really wanted to play this match and he showed it on the pitch. Lots of substance in the midfield, but also offensive insertions. From 67′ Vecino 6 – The Uruguayan best detects his teammate, lending a hand in the middle of the pitch but also in his area.
Rovella 6 – More than giving geometry to the team, it contributes to acting as a screen in front of the defense. He doesn’t hold back until the final whistle.
Isaksen 5.5- Promising start with a couple of ideas on the right. We see less, however, after Lazio remain with 10 men. From 67′ Pedro 5.5 – Unlike the latest releases, it does not appear to be the deus ex machina of the Biancocelesti. Little to report on his part.
Dia 6 – His race is difficult to judge, given that it doesn’t even last half an hour due to the red card taken by Romagnoli. From the 27th minute Patric – He enters with the right attention, holding up the Juventus attack well almost until the end of the contest.
Zaccagni 5.5 – Not the best evening for the Lazio captain, who emerges little in the final meters. From 67′ Castrovilli 5.5 – He should give new vigor to Baroni’s attacking midfield, but he fails in his aim.
Castellanos 5.5 – He doesn’t have many balls in the area, however he tries with mixed success to be useful in winning the ball back high and helping the team move forward.
Marco Baroni 6 – The match was heavily influenced by the red card taken by Romagnoli in the first half of the game. He comes close to a golden point, coming out defeated by an own goal. Good attitude, however, from his boys.
