Branca on the arguments during his time at Inter: “I mended things with Motta, but not with Vieri. But I don’t think about it anymore”

10 years after his farewell to Inter, the former head of the technical area Marco Branca speak to Messenger revealing some details on the serious arguments with players like Vieri, Muntari, Thiago Motta: “All true, but it’s part of the job. I had to bring together the interests of the individuals with those of the team. If I had to clash with someone, I certainly wouldn’t I held back”, said the former manager in the interview given today to the Roman newspaper, in which he looked back on his years at the Nerazzurri.

But then he sewed up?
“There were no real problems with Thiago. I didn’t have the opportunity to make peace with Vieri, but I don’t think about this anymore.”

Has your relationship with the ultras always been complicated?
“Yes. It’s always been a nuisance for clubs, because you’re in limbo and you don’t know how to behave. You’re always on the limit.”

How did you judge De Rossi’s parable?
“A coach cannot do everything alone. He needs a sporting director to manage problems, and this brings at least 10 points. If there is no trust between the coach and the sporting director – and at Roma there wasn’t even time to develop it – you need to have a strong team. For this you need an intermediate reference figure.”
