Next summer’s Atalanta risks losing two jewels. The third probably not

Year after year Atalanta sells its most attractive players, only to then rebuild and come back stronger. It’s normal when you focus on young players who manage to evolve, as happened with Koopmeiners or Hojlund, both sold for their weight in gold, after a limited investment. It will probably happen next summer too, given that both Ederson and Lookman are wanted by all the best clubs in Europe.

For Ederson the situation is simple: he arrived two years ago, he still has three years left on his contract until June 30, 2027. However, the idea is not to renew because ambitions lead to wanting to play in the Premier League, or for more famous clubs such as Real Madrid or Barcelona. Last January Newcastle arrived with a briefcase full of millions, which was rejected. Next summer, however, he will be 24 months away from expiring, the best time to be sold at “full” price. The idea at the moment is not to renew but to wait and understand what the situation will be later.

Lookman ended up on the market “on his own”, that is when Paris Saint Germain attempted to sign him for a “political” sum, around 20 million euros. Option sent back with losses for the Nerazzurri who, however, had allowed the Nigerian to remain out to avoid injury. For him too – given that the renewal has not yet arrived – next summer could be his farewell summer, unless he changes his mind definitively. The evaluation? Around 45-50 million.

The third would be Giorgio Scalvini who, however, has been out of action for months and will be able to return in the new year. In time to demonstrate that he is worth very high figures, but which are unlikely to be taken into consideration in the event of other transfers.
