Italy has its center forward. Spalletti on Retegui: “He will become a top player. He’s perfect”

Retegui, game after game, is offering an increasingly complete repertoire. Is it improving exponentially? This is one of the questions asked at the press conference Luciano Spallettitechnical commissioner of the national team who at the end of Italy-Israel 4-1 he responded like this: “Retegui is strong, a strong footballer. The boy is very serious, inside the penalty area he is lethal. Now he has learned to relate more with the team: he will become a top player, he also puts that attention into doing things, in training and in being a protagonist. He is a team player and is not too individualistic: now he is a perfect footballer.”

What would you have thought after that European Championship that Italy would have won ten points in four days of the Nations League?
“I would have thought that I left two aside. You play to do your best, with calm and a bit of courage. Then you’re about to lose a match, but you work seriously on what you’ve seen, on what happened. Italy, as I have said several times, will always have around twenty players to play the matches with the correct attitude and energy.”
