The extra weapon for Mister Italiano. Bologna ready to embrace Ferguson again

“I’m finally fine. I’ve started running again and my knee feels strong. There isn’t a specific day for returning, but everything is going well and at the end of the month I will be able to start training in a group. Let’s say 2-3 weeks to start going bench”. Words and music by Lewis FergusonBologna’s Scottish midfielder, out of action since last April following surgery for a ruptured cruciate ligament.

Soon on the field
As said by the midfielder born in ’99 himself, he will be available to the Italian coach again by the end of the month. Obviously after a long absence and given the severity of the injury, Ferguson will not be a starter straight away, but his return will be gradual. In the next two months, Italiano will have to manage his return in order to have a player ready in January: a new, very important purchase at a particular moment of the season, when the decisive matches of the Champions League group stage will be played.

The extra weapon
The recovery of a player like Ferguson, net of his skill and his skills on the pitch, could allow Bologna to make the leap forward that has been missing in this first part of the season: with just 7 goals scored in 7 games, that of Bologna is one of the worst offensive departments in the championship, at least as regards the teams that should aspire to a European placement. Midfielders, especially those with strong offensive skills, have always scored a lot under the guidance of Vincenzo Italiano, for this reason Ferguson’s recovery can have a double value: increasing the quality in the middle of the pitch (and at the moment also the quantity), and above all find new ways to score.
