At thirty-three years old, Dutch midfielder Marten De Roon is ready to sign a new contract with Atalanta, the club he has played for since 2017. As the newspaper ‘TuttoSport’ on newsstands writes today, an agreement is being concluded between the Bergamo club and the player born in 1991 who are currently linked by a contract expiring on 30 June 2026. Work is underway to extend it for a further season, a sort of mutual marriage life given that the contract with Atalanta will expire when Marten will be 36 years old.
Marten De Roon, after the last match won 5-1 against Genoa in which he also scored, gave this interview to ‘DAZN’: “I score too few goals. Every now and then I coordinate myself well and put it in the corner. The one against Spezia is perhaps better. Today I’m happy with the victory and the performance, after the Champions League, today we played with confidence.”
Do you do all the roles now?
“With Miretti playing in the middle I could shorten and I managed to fit into midfield. The striker is not my role but I do what is needed to help the team and coach Gasperini.”
Are you saving your next goal for the Champions League?
“I haven’t scored in Europe yet, doing it with my left foot and putting it under the top corner would be nice.”
