Too many injuries, Genoa closed for a free agent: Pereiro in the group from Monday

Gaston Pereiro leaves Genoa. The Uruguayan midfielder, released after the expiry of his contract with Cagliari, has closed the agreement with the Ligurian club and from Monday, i.e. from the resumption of training, he will join Alberto Gilardino’s group with a contract valid until the end of the season. Having spent six months playing for Ternana, Pereiro has been in Italy since 2020 when Cagliari bought him from PSV Eindhoven for 12 million euros.

Genoa’s decision to accelerate for the player born in 1995 comes after the injuries that decimated the advanced department available to Alberto Gilardino. The latest was that of Vitinha, a footballer who will be out for a month due to a flexor injury.
In the second part of last season, Pereiro scored six goals in twenty Serie B games: a positive impact on the Ternana reality which, however, did not help to avoid the Umbrian team’s relegation to Serie C.
