Fabio Cannavaro was among the protagonists of the opening evening of the Trento Sports Festival: “Since I was a child I have always dreamed of being a footballer and since I am hard-headed, I succeeded. I achieved my goals through work which has never been a problem for me: in Napoli the first year I was sent to a team satellite and it was a failure, but I did everything to get back there. My luck was my parents: my father was an excellent player, but he never put pressure on me and my brother.”
On the Ballon d’Or won after becoming World champion in 2006: “It was a reward for what my teammates and I did in that unforgettable World Cup.”
On his career: “I want to continue being a coach: when I stopped I still had the fire inside and I really like this job. In Udine it was a short but sweet experience. Now let’s see what will happen. Count in Naples? He is a determined coach with clear ideas. He has taken a strong team and if we add 150 million investments, it becomes even stronger. He is good at getting into the heads of the players and Napoli are one of the favorites to win the scudetto because they play one of the favorites to win the scudetto together with Inter and Juve.”
