Belgium, German: “I have had contact with Italian clubs. Atalanta? I don’t comment on rumours”

In an interview granted to Corriere dello Sportthe coach of Belgium Domenico Tedesco he spoke like this about the next match against Italy: “For me it’s a really special match, I can’t wait for it to arrive. To say otherwise would be to tell a lie, I was born in Italy and I continue to have family there. Growing up in Germany, there was a Sunday TV show called “Ranissimo” that showed Italian football. I always looked forward to that moment every week.”

Have you ever been contacted by Italian clubs?
“There have been some contacts in the past, over the years. I don’t want to say much more: if a club asks to speak with me you can be sure that the discussions are confidential. It’s no secret that I would like to work in Serie A, a day. But I have no idea if and when it will happen. I am currently completely absorbed in the role of coach of the Belgian national team and I am enjoying it a lot.”

There was also talk of Atalanta after the Europa League quarter-final with Leipzig…
“As I said before, I am not in the habit of commenting on certain rumours, no matter what club it is, nor whether it is the truth or not. Apart from this, I believe that Gian Piero Gasperini is doing a great job in recent years. I have the maximum respect for him and for what he is achieving with his staff and his team in Bergamo.”
