Final result: Fiorentina – Milan 2-1
FLORENTINA (by Dimitri Conti)
De Gea 9 – Already monumental in opposing Theo Hernandez’s penalty, he acts like a phenomenon and also repeats on Abraham. Only Pulisic manages to overcome this giant.
Dodo 6.5 – If you have to mark Leao, getting booked in the 8th minute for a naivety on him, it’s not the best. But then he wins the penalty missed by Kean and plays well.
Comuzzo 6.5 – All those who bet against the inexperience of a 2005 player in his first big match as a starter will have been disappointed. It does not allow any serious errors.
Ranieri 6 – True, it was he who caused the first of the two penalties for Milan saved by De Gea, but the save on Pulisic he made in the second half counted as a goal.
Gosens 6 – The belief of many is that acting as a full-back he is wasted and in fact in the last meters he has an impact up to a certain point. Defensively, however, he is impeccable.
Cataldi 6 – He doesn’t particularly stand out in the heart of the game, with Adli at his side he is called upon to do more dirty work than usual. It’s not noticeable, but it also makes few mistakes.
From 67′ Richardson 6 – Thrown in in a very delicate phase of the match, he doesn’t get upset and makes his contribution felt especially in terms of quantity.
Adli 7 – First as a starter in the league, after the good European showcase, against his Milan. Celebrate the occasion in the best way possible, it’s hard not to rejoice after a goal like that.
From 76′ Biraghi sv.
Colpani 6 – Hunting for the spark that would really start the love story between him and Florence, he also proposed against Milan, missing only in the final. Growing.
From 93′ Kayode sv.
Gudmundsson 7 – You expect him to take the penalty, this time he doesn’t make a fuss and gives in to Kean. However, he wants to leave his mark and succeeds just before leaving, greeted by an ovation.
From 76′ Kouame sv.
Ox 6 – Diverted to the outside with a lot of sacrifice required, especially on Pulisic, he doesn’t say a word and makes himself available for tactical needs. Grinding kilometers after kilometers.
Kean 5 – The last penalties had caused discussion, this time he shoots but gets blocked. He doesn’t react for a long time and actually causes the visitors’ second penalty, then he assists and hits the crossbar.
Raffaele Palladino 6.5 – The start of the match resolves the doubts of the approach: he responds in kind to Fonseca, lining up Fiorentina with a similar 4-2-4 in which Bove plays the winger, with the former Adli and Cataldi in midfield. He finds the answers he was looking for: his team responds blow for blow in every duel and ends the first half ahead, albeit in a daring way. In the second he demonstrated the great character of his team: caught by Milan, they managed to win.
MILAN (by Paolo Lora Lamia)
Maignan 6.5 – One of the best in Fonseca’s 11th, not only for the penalty saved from Kean. On many other occasions, in fact, he stops the Viola attackers, preventing the deficit from being heavier.
Emerson Royal 5.5 – Interesting start to the match, in which he guarantees constant push on the right and also some interesting crosses. As the minutes passed, so much (and too much) inaccuracy.
Cage 6 – The more attentive of the two Rossoneri centre-backs, with a positive presence even in the opposing area on set pieces.
Tomori 5.5 – Rather distracted in various situations, where he loses opponents or arrives late on important balls.
Theo Hernandez 4 – It’s difficult to remember a worse first part of the match than tonight for the Frenchman. Due to the penalty that Kean then missed, he suffered against Dodò and, to top it off, he missed from 11 metres. The assist for Pulisic is a small thing compared to the rest of his performance, which culminated with the red card after the final whistle.
Fofana 5.5 – After some convincing races, he appears a bit in reserve. He struggled to act as a screen in front of the defense, rarely stopping the Tuscans’ advances. Something more after the break.
Reijnders 6 – It emerges in the development of the maneuver, to which he contributes with passes that are most often precise for his teammates.
Pulisic 6.5 – In a largely opaque match, he mainly touched two balls: one favored the penalty that was then missed by Theo Hernandez and the other slammed it past De Gea in the second half. From 82′ Chukwueze sv.
Morata 5 – Offensive director but also solver, as has been the case for several weeks now. In this sort of dual role, however, he provides the least convincing performance since the beginning of the season.
Abraham 4.5 – He has a tough time against the lily central couple, failing to do the usual job for the team. An evening to forget, also due to the missed penalty in the second half.
Leao 5.5 – As is now customary, it goes in alternating phases. When he lights up, however, his plays are sometimes important for Milan’s offensive dynamics. From 73′ Okafor 6 – Final with very few balls available, in which he still tries to do something on the left.
Paulo Fonseca 5.5 – A step back compared to the last championship games. The choice to release two of the best on the pitch early, namely Leao and Pulisic, was not a very good one.
