D’Aversa and the exception with Lazio after a series of defeats. Barons with him…

It’s a very challenging match for Empoli at Lazio. This is not only because the Tuscans have never won at home to the Biancocelesti, but also because the same can be said for Roberto D’Aversa against Marco Baroni. The current Empoli coach has lost four of the six matches against his colleague, conceding 12 goals among other things: which means conceding an average of two per match.

However, Baroni’s tradition against Empoli is not as positive. The Florence-born coach lost four personal “derbies” with the Corsi-owned club, winning three. A draw that occurred in only two circumstances is rare. Last season it was a clear path for him, because with Verona he won two games out of two against the Azzurri.

D’Aversa will today reach 155 benches in the Serie A championship, gained through experiences with Parma, Sampdoria, Lecce and Empoli. He has practically always lost against Lazio (eight defeats). However, there is only one exception: Lecce-Lazio 2-1, first day of last championship. A comeback victory for the team then coached by D’Aversa who had gone behind after Immobile’s goal in the 26th minute. In the final, first Almqvist (85′) and then Di Francesco (87′) overturned the score.
