Atalanta-Genoa, report cards 5-1: Retegui in balance above the madness, Ekhator enters well

Final result: Atalanta-Genoa 5-1

ATALANTA (edited by Patrick Iannarelli)
Carnesecchi 6 – Ordinary day, he only gets his gloves dirty in the second half. Just a couple of intercepted balls, he is not to blame for the goal conceded.

De Roon 7 – After about forty seconds he is immediately prompted, he responds present by closing diagonally. Then the usual perpetual motion begins, from defender to midfielder, in a constant movement that is almost illegible for the rossoblù. He even invents a masterpiece by kicking on the fly and replicating the goal from a year ago.

Hien 7 – The physical problems and a few too many distractions had affected the first part of the season: he raises the pace and always uses physicality, he wins practically any tackle.

Kolasinac 7 – Together with his department colleague he puts it heavy, rough but never foul, he engages in rustic duels with any Genoa player. Often, or always, he comes out on top.

Bellanova 6.5 – He sinks continuously, never holds back. He helps the team in every phase, he is rediscovering the form he showed last season. From 77′ Palestra sv

Ederson 7.5 – It was clear from the deep ball that made it 1-0 for the Nerazzurri that it was the day. Then he invents football, fifteen minutes into the second half he smashes the door. From 77′ Sulemana sv

Pasalic 7 – He does a lot of dark work, he plays for concreteness and not for spectacle. Maybe it drops a bit at the end, but just to find the nitpick.

Zappacosta 6.5 – More of malice than refinement, he places a couple of slides at the right times: he doesn’t feel the match against Shakhtar, he growls on every ball.

De Ketelaere 6.5 – The photograph of his match is all about defensive recovery in which he prevents a potential shot on goal. When it comes on it puts the entire visiting defense into crisis. From 68′ Samardzic 6.5 – He presents himself with a conclusion that leads to a penalty kick for his team’s 4-0.

Retegui 8 – The standing ovation at the end of the match says it all: about robbery, twice, on a penalty kick. Seven out of seven in the league, he has already equaled last season. At the beginning of October. Practically balanced above the madness (of the goal). From 82′ V. Vlahovic sv

Lookman 7 – It sinks without ever stopping. He presses, accelerates, dribbles everyone. And he gets involved in practically all of Atalanta’s goal actions. From 68′ Zaniolo 6 – Good approach to the challenge, he practically enters when the race is already over.

Gian Piero Gasperini 7.5 – His Atalanta had to give answers after the sudden stop against Como. Said and done, there was an immediate reaction, Shakhtar opened the lid: mechanisms found, now we really need the right pace to return to the top of the table.

GENOA (edited by Matteo Trevisi)

Gollini 5.5 – Before the break he saves his team with a good save on Lookman. In the second half, he leaves the ball there for the Dea to double the lead.

DeWinter 5 – He sees opponents coming from all sides and struggles to contain them. He is continuously targeted by Lookman and is often overtaken.

Bani 5.5 – He is attracted by Ederson’s movement and leaves the field behind him to pass towards Lookman who provides the assist for the momentary 1-0. From 46′ I want 5 – Atalanta’s attack also suffers and, thanks to a touch with his arm, gives the opponents a penalty.

Vasquez 5 – On the occasion of the first goal he gets burned by Retegui’s movement who clearly anticipates him.

Zanoli 6 – Gives some evidence of his qualities. A couple of accelerations that scare Zappacosta and some good crosses not exploited by his teammates.

Thorsby 5 – His dam in the middle of the field doesn’t work. On that side Atalanta breaks through and is unable to find countermeasures.

Bohinen 5 – He makes too many technical mistakes and struggles in the interdiction phase. He wastes a good counterattack by completely failing to support a teammate.

Miretti 6 – Try to give quality to Genoa’s midfield with some good tracks. He suffers a bit in the non-possession phase. From 67′ Melegoni 6.5 – It goes away to Samardzic with a nice movement and finds the inside track which is worth the assist for Ekhator.

Martin 6 – Limits Bellanova and helps Genoa’s maneuver when it goes beyond their own half but nothing more. Since ’81 Norton-Cuffy sv.

Vitinha 5.5 – He tries to lower his range to tie up the game but there are very few balls available. Since ’86 Ankeye sv.

Pinamonti 5.5 – He is left alone too much to fight against opposing defenders. IN a couple of situations he frees himself to shoot but hits the ball badly, creating no danger towards the opponent’s goal. From the 67th minute Ekhator 6.5 – After a few minutes of his entry he has an opportunity on his head but he can’t give too much strength. On the second ball he touched, however, he scored the winning goal.

ALBERTO GILARDINO 5 – Genoa’s negative moment continues. In the first minutes his team attacks their opponents well but after the goal conceded by Retegui they loosen up and even concede 5. The situation becomes more and more complicated and a shock is needed to get out of this bad moment.
