Reggiana, Viali: “Created 2-3 sensational scoring chances without conceding anything to Spezia”

Bitterness at Reggiana after the 1-0 defeat against Spezia. William AvenuesGranata coach, analyzes the match with clarity, but does not hide a hint of regret. “The episodes move things,” begins Viali, as he points out City of La Spezia. “The match was nervous, with many fouls, the balance was broken in the only situation Spezia had.” The Reggio coach recognizes the difficulties encountered in the first half on the left wing, but underlines the team’s reaction in the second half: “If we had equalized at the post I would still have retained a hint of regret”.

Viali spares no criticism of the refereeing: “I never talk about the referees, I spoke to him and expressed my thoughts. Maybe today there were situations managed in a lackluster manner.” The Reggio coach then explains the commotion on the bench after Spezia’s goal: “According to our point of view, the foul from which the free-kick arose is non-existent. Then we score a goal and I go to complain to the fourth official because it is a foul that changed the game match and unfortunately the Spezia bench intervened and the tension rose. I think the referee, for equal reasons, sent off one on each side. Mine was just an explanation for the foul.”

Despite the defeat, Viali says he is proud of his players: “It seemed right to underline how proud I was of their performance. We came here against a team that is doing well, that has always won at home. We didn’t concede anything in the first half and we dominated the second half, creating 2-3 sensational scoring opportunities. It’s not easy against such a strong team.” Viali concludes with a message of encouragement for his players: “Then the result doesn’t arrive and you risk going home with broken legs, so I wanted to leave him a strong message.”
