Slot reveals: “At Feyenoord I wanted Beukema, then he chose the wrong team…”

Arne Slot, Liverpool managerpresented tomorrow’s Champions League match against Bologna in a press conference. Among other things, the Dutch coach focused on what type of opponents the rossoblù are and in particular he also told an anecdote regarding one of their players: “Last season, but also in this season, they proved to be a very difficult team to beat and we as Liverpool know how difficult it is to beat teams that follow you manwise across the pitch, like last year against Atalanta. Challenging an Italian team in Europe is always complicated.”

Is it true that a few years ago you asked for Beukema? Slot replies: “In the team I worked for (Feyenoord, ed.) we were interested. We were looking for a central defender and we saw a lot of potential in him, unfortunately for us he chose another club, unfortunately for him however he chose the wrong one (laughs, ed.) But he did very well and then Bologna took him: he’s a really good player, I can’t wait to say goodbye to him tomorrow.”
