At the end of the match, the 38-year-old Uruguayan (161 appearances and 8 goals for the national team) announced his definitive retirement: “I’m happy. A little tired, but happy. It’s a title that I value no more or less than any other: it’s simply different, because amateurism contains the purest and most genuine feeling of football and its people, and because winning with friends, brothers and cousins at your side is truly special from the bottom of my heart , now that’s really all. I told the fans: I won’t play anymore.”
