Intercity Football Club (Spanish third division) could make the most important purchase in its short history in the next few hours. The Alicante club, according to information reported by Cadena Copeis in fact negotiating the hiring of the former Italian national team striker, Mario Balotelli.
The operation is not yet closed but in the last few hours there would have been important developments: today there were several telephone conversations between the player’s representative and the Intercity board of directors, which offers the attacker a contract until 30 June 2025, with option to renew for another season.
The former Inter, Manchester City, Liverpool and Milan player is without a team after finishing his spell at Adana Demirspor in the Turkish Super Lig. At 34, he could therefore play in Spain for the first time in his career, in a club that recalls two of his old teams. Balotelli scored 7 goals in 16 games last season, but was out for three months with a knee injury.
Intercity, we read, no longer has space to sign “senior” players, so they should release one of the players present in the squad. The Alicante team, led by Salvador Martí, fired their coach last week due to a terrible start to the season in Group II of the Primera RFEF: with 6 points, they find themselves in the bottom of the table.
