Racist insults to Vinicius and Chukwueze: one year in prison and three years of DASPO for a fan

Twelve months of imprisonment and a three-year DASPO in Spain for the individual who almost two years ago uttered racist phrases aimed at Vinicius and Chukwuezea Villarreal player at the time. This is the sentence of the Court of Palma de Mallorca, with the prison sentence that was however suspended. Real Madrid announced it with the following official statement on their website: “Real Madrid CF announces that the Investigative Court No. 3 of Palma de Mallorca has today issued a sentence of conviction against the person who, from his position in the stands of the Son Moix stadium, addressed racist insults against our player Vinicius Júnior in the match between Mallorca and Real Madrid on 5 February 2023.

The defendant was found guilty of two crimes against moral integrity, aggravated by having acted with racist motivations, committed against Vinicius Júnior, and also against the player Samu Chukwueze, at the time a Villarreal player, who had suffered similar insults in the Son Moix stadium from the same person, two weeks later.

The court sentenced the defendant to twelve months in prison.also condemning him to not to enter for a period of three years the football stadiums where matches of the National Professional Football League and the Royal Spanish Football Federation are played. The suspension of the prison sentence was conditional on the defendant apologizing and expressing his regret in a letter addressed to Vinicius Júnior, participating in an equal treatment and non-discrimination program.

This is the third criminal conviction handed down in recent months for racist insults received by Real Madrid players.

On the other hand, the minor who insulted our player Aurélien Tchouameni in the game at the Son Moix stadium, during the celebration of the match between Mallorca and Real Madrid on April 13, 2024, apologized and expressed his regret for his conduct, and accepted in the juvenile jurisdiction to carry out the socio-educational activities proposed to him by the Prosecutor’s Office. For one year, he will not be able to access the stadiums where official competitions are held and will have to pay the financial sanctions imposed on him, for his behavior, by the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport.
