Empoli, Sazonov undergoes knee surgery: Georgian defender likely out for 5-6 months

(ANSA) – EMPOLI (FIRENZE), 26 SEPTEMBER – Empoli defender Saba Sazonov, on loan from Torino, has undergone knee surgery. The Georgian defender had suffered an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in training on Sunday after the match against Juventus. The ligament was reconstructed. The surgery, performed at the Madre Fortunata Toniolo clinic in Bologna by Professor Stefano Zaffagnini of the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute, in the presence of the Empoli football team’s medical staff, was a complete success. Now, according to what we understand, Sazonov is expected to be out for at least five or six months. (ANSA).
