Federico Chiesa made his first-minute debut for Liverpool last nightin the 5-1 victory over West Ham in the English League Cup, known as the Carabao Cup for sponsorship reasons. In the hour of play that was granted to him, the son of art and winger of the Italian national team managed to provide an assist, in favor of Diogo Jota.
In the post-match Arne Slot, Reds coach, spoke in a press conference and also dwelt on what Chiesa had shown: “I was happy to see him in action for an hour as he has played very little in recent months. He made an assist and worked hard. Now his goal must be to find his best condition. And also to get used to his teammates and a new style of play for him. Overall it was nice to see him already in this condition: we can use him fully if necessary.”
More words from Slot in the post-game: “The result says it was easy, but the game was completely different. I think they put us in difficulty, in general it was a good game and we are happy to have won it. It is important when you are behind to get that (the draw, ed.) as quickly as possible and scoring at Anfield is always special, so I am happy to help the team.”
