“As an Inter fan, I say yes. We can aim for another Scudetto, but it will be more difficult than in other years.” This is how former striker Jurgen Klinsmann, former coach of Germany and among others, spoke to TuttoMercatoWeb.com.
Why is it more difficult than other years?
“Because Juve has had a good market and there is Napoli. As well as Milan who is waking up. That’s nice, in this way the championship acquires more interest”.
Fonseca saved the bench. If he had lost the derby he would have been fired.
“When you coach a big team and the results don’t come, you’re always in doubt. But the derby was great for him and for Milan. The Rossoneri needed the three points more than Inter.”
Daniele De Rossi was instead fired and Juric took his place.
“The Roma environment is different: unique. If you are not part of it, you don’t really understand what is happening. From the outside, his dismissal after a few games seemed strange. He had also renewed his contract. It is a particular story. Like that of Lina Souloukou. But only those who live in the environment can judge”.
The Italian National Team is not going through a good moment. Germany has also been through a dark period.
“The whole world needs a strong Italy. The Azzurri have always been among the greats of world football. The recent eliminations were a bad blow. Italy must recover and find a way to move forward, they have always had quality players and coaches. Seeing teams like Italy or Germany go out in the round of 16 or quarter-finals is not good. We have corrected a few things over time. Both national teams must do well, history says so”.
There is another Klinsmann who wants to make his way in Italy. His son Jonathan, goalkeeper of Cesena, who has shown himself in the Cup. How did the negotiation come about?
“He finally had the chance to show himself. He played all the national teams with the United States. Cesena is led by a person who comes from Los Angeles and that’s how the idea of coming to Romagna was born. My son accepted the opportunity and when he had the chance he made himself count. He took the chance. He knows he can play at high levels. However, the goalkeeper role is particular: he only plays one. But he was good at being ready. He’s a guy with his head on his shoulders. We’re happy with the choice. He’ll carve out his space”.
And you? You coached the German national team, even in Korea. All you need is an Italian experience.
“I am always open to any adventure. My path has been a bit fun and also out of the ordinary. Fair observation: I miss an experience in Italy, if it came…”.
