Stephen OldVicenza coach, commented on yesterday’s victory against Renate: “We played a great game and continued the performances we’ve been doing lately. Very good ball control, we created many goal-scoring opportunities and we defended well, risking very little. If we want to nitpick, for the game we played, we could and should have closed it out earlier, because otherwise we risk a joke. Renate has top-class players, it’s a team that, not by chance, won five games out of five, before coming here. However, we played a game of great intensity and quantity.
The starting lineup? Those who played today (yesterday, ed.) hadn’t played the other day and they are all players who come from important championships, seasons and careers. I had no fear and no doubts, I could have played someone else compared to the last game but I didn’t want to completely overturn the team, we made four changes with quality players. Championships are won, matches are won, performances are made if you are a strong group. We are, someone on the bench who hasn’t even come on could easily play, other important players are out due to suspension or injury. The team is up to the objective we want to achieve, performances like those of the last period confirm the belief we have in our heads.
Victories that give confidence? A period like this must give us confidence and give us awareness, we cannot and must never fall into arrogance and lose humility.
