From Rafinha to Candreva: the names Genoa is considering to replace Malinovskyi

Genoa is ready to return to the market after the injury suffered on Saturday afternoon by midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi. During the match against Venezia, the Ukrainian footballer suffered a dislocation of the joint with a fracture of the right fibula and yesterday morning he underwent surgery on his ankle. The operation was a complete success, but the recovery time will not be short: the former Atalanta player will be available to mister Gilardino only in the second part of the return round.

And now? The club is evaluating the possibility of returning to the market by drawing from free agents. In the crosshairs, writes the ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’, there are three footballers. The first is Antonio Candreva37 years old currently without a contract after two seasons at Salernitana. The second is Victor Kovalenko28 years old, coming from a year at Empoli. The last one is Rafinha31 years old: fresh from two seasons at Al-Arabi, the Brazilian midfielder played for a long time at Barcelona but during his career he also wore the Inter shirt.

Yesterday, Genoa released this statement after the operation Malinkovskyi underwent: “Player Ruslan Malinovskyi underwent surgery on his right ankle this morning. The operation, performed by Prof. Federico Santolini and his team, was a complete success. The player is doing well and will begin rehabilitation at the Club’s facilities in the coming days.”
