Venice, Candela: “Di Francesco different from Vanoli. Milan? There was a reaction”

The defender of the Venice Anthony Candela spoke to Dazn about the challenge won by the Lagunari against Genoa, the first of this season for Di Francesco’s team. Here are his words: “We wanted to give the fans a joy and get the first points at home, during the week we worked a lot on the mental aspect after the four goals conceded in Milan and I think we had a reaction. Me as a wing-back? It’s a role that I like to play and you have to adapt to emergency situations, we had some problems at the back and during the week I worked where I had already played last year at times. You have to be very careful at the back but it also allows you to push forward by breaking away towards the attack”.

Candela then pauses to talk about the differences found working under Di Francesco, who arrived in the summer to replace Vanoli: “They are two coaches with a different way of interpreting the game, last year we had fixed mechanisms, we had our style. With Di Francesco we changed some things, it’s a more central game, maybe less direct than Vanoli, we have to try to learn the coach’s concepts and you can only do that with work. We had some initial difficulties, but I think that through work we will get into the coach’s mechanisms, I think we can see the results”.
