Genoa, successful ankle surgery for Malinovskyi: rehabilitation in the next few days

The player Ruslan Malinovsky – Genoa’s official website reports – underwent surgery on his right ankle this morning. “The operation, performed by Prof. Federico Santolini and his team, was a complete success. The Ukrainian playmaker is doing well and will begin rehabilitation at the Club’s facilities in the coming days,” reads the Rossoblu statement.

The reconstruction of the accident
Ruslan Malinovskyi’s tears go beyond the bitterness of the defeat in Venice. The second seasonal defeat at the “Penzo” after a performance below expectations is overshadowed. The feeling that the injury that struck the Genoa midfielder was more serious than expected was felt right away. From the moment the number 17 rossoblù left the field on a stretcher and was taken to the hospital in the Veneto capital. A heavy absence for Alberto Gilardino who will lose one of the most versatile players in the squad, lethal with his left foot and capable of covering the role of quality mezzala and also of support to the two strikers.

The response
The medical report arrived yesterday evening: “The player Ruslan Malinovskyi, who suffered a trauma to his right ankle during today’s match, suffered a joint dislocation and a fractured fibula.”
