Juventus doesn’t score, Vaciago: “Blaming Vlahovic is unfair”

A goalless draw for Juventus. Last night Thiago Motta’s team did not go beyond a 0-0 draw against Napoli at the Allianz Stadium. A result that on the one hand rewards a rock-solid defense but on the other highlights an attack that did not leave its mark. He expressed himself on this very subject in his fund for Allsports Guido Vaciago:

“He doesn’t lose and he doesn’t concede goals. And that’s not a small thing, in fact it’s a lot. But he doesn’t score goals. And it’s no laughing matter, because by always scoring 0-0, you get a lot of compliments for your defensive phase, but at most you save yourself (…). Now throwing the blame on Vlahovic is unfair (and cruel because the boy doesn’t have a character as robust as his shoulders): Dusan didn’t do much to get into the game yesterday, but Juventus also created little.

And here we are at the chicken-egg dilemma in football version: Juventus can’t build something concentrated in the offensive phase because Vlahovic doesn’t move in the right way or Vlahovic didn’t score because Juventus didn’t build well? Motta is, obviously, looking for a solution, but with the calm of someone who doesn’t want to compromise the defensive phase that he has perfectly fine-tuned”
