Flick: “Barça strong enough to play a good Champions League. We will achieve our goals”

Hansi Flickcoach of the Barcelonaspoke at a press conference after the 2-1 Champions League defeat to Monaco: “The game changed after the red card in the 10th minute, changing our idea and our planning. We tried at every moment. We defended with passion, but we made some mistakes. I saw many positives in the game. We had some chances, but in the end they brought in fast players and they deserved to win. We didn’t play at the highest level or how we want to play. We have to accept that. Surely when the other players come back we will be stronger.”

The Blaugrana will return to the field this weekend against Villarreal and Flick he doesn’t want excuses: “There was disappointment in the dressing room and I said that now we have to recover for Sunday. LaLiga is important and we have to keep winning. We have to analyse the game and talk to the players to see what we didn’t do well. It won’t be easy, but we have to recover our energy. We lost, okay, I told the players, but we have to come back stronger and recover. We have a game on Sunday and we have to give our all, fight for the team and that’s what we’ll continue to do. We’re strong enough to play a good Champions League. There are seven games left and we’ll achieve our objectives”.

Finally, he concluded by speaking about the individuals: “Lamine tried a lot to create. It was a difficult match and you have to adapt to these situations. The substitution of Lamine and Cubarsí were more on Sunday. They were very tired. Casado is fine and only received one blow, he is one of the players who gave more than we thought. I am very proud of this team and we have to accept this defeat. Ansu Fati? I spoke to him and he sees himself more in the role of left wing, but he has great qualities to play in the center as well. I saw him very different in July and brilliant in training. Now he needs time and we have to take care of him”.
