Evani is not having it: “Milan, there is little sacrifice. And Fonseca can revitalize the team”

Interviewed by Sports Gazette on the occasion of the approach of the first derby of the season between Milan and Inter, the former Rossoneri Alberico Evani has thoroughly analyzed the compromising situation of the Rossoneri. The start of the season is not going as expected for a clear reason: “The squad is top notch, among the best in Italy. At the same time, the poor team spirit is evident, there seems to be little willingness to sacrifice on everyone’s part. They must find this before anything else”.

Not only that, because since last year the urgency of a solution to the defensive cracks has been equally evident in the Rossoneri house: “It’s not just the defense’s fault, but the lack of team balance: the first defender must be the attacker, and I’m not just talking about Leao. Rafa has great qualities and should be more consistent both between matches and in the match itself. He must be more available to help when the opponents have the ball.”

The fact is that Paulo Fonseca is already at risk of missing out at the start of the five matchdays of the championship.: “Unfortunately, that’s how it is in football, without results the coach pays. He knows it too. But if the club has brought him in to change the game system, he should be given time to work, to get into the players’ heads. Fonseca has experience, I think he has the tools to manage the moment well and to be able to revitalize a team that in these matches has not lived up to its name and the quality it has”.
