Another big team stops at Marassi: De Winter makes Genoa happy in injury time

As against Inter, Genoa is thrilled with a big team in our league. And as against the Nerazzurri, joy arrives right at the buzzer. Alberto Gilardino’s team earned an important point by reaching Daniele De Rossi’s Roma at 1-1. A first half of the match in which the rossoblù suffered the giallorosso game but Gollini kept his team standing. The Grifone goalkeeper, however, could do nothing about Dovbyk’s tap in that unlocked the match.

In the second half, the Piedmontese coach changed something by inserting Vitinha and Malinovskyi making his team decidedly more offensive. The attitude is different and in the end, in the 96th minute, De Winter’s winning header who overtakes Svilar and makes the “Ferraris” explode with joy.

At the end of the match, Gilardino commented: “In the second half we did too little to worry a team like Roma with great quality. They were good at taking advantage of the opportunities and could have hurt us in other situations. In the first half we should have done better, in the second half we changed something. I was thinking of starting Malinovskyi from the beginning but he came back from the national team with a knock to his knee. For us he is an important player, we need to have an attitude like the second half but we need balance”.
