The 0-0 at Castellani is disappointing Thiago Motta and the Juventus fans, but the Juventus from Empoli brings home at least one positive element. With this match, in fact, the Old Lady “rises” to zero goals conceded after four days of the championship, the only team capable of maintaining this excellent defensive record at the start of this season.
It’s only the fifth time. As highlighted by Optonly on five other occasions, after four matchdays, had Juve conceded zero goals. These were, specifically, the 2014/15 championships, 1986/87, 1983/84 and 1965/66.
For the record, this is not a particularly relevant statistic for the championship victory. On two occasions – in 2015 and 1984 – Juventus, undefeated in the first four matchdays, took home the scudetto at the end of the season. The other two championships, however, were won respectively by Napoli (1987) and Inter (1966): neither of the two had kept a clean sheet after 360 minutes of play.
4 – The #Juventus He has kept a clean sheet in each of his first four Serie A games of the season for only the fifth time in his history, after 2014/15, 1986/87, 1983/84 and 1965/66. Wall.#EmpoliJuventus
