The adventure in Serie B of the Carraraafter the break for the national teams, resumes with the home match (still on the pitch of the Arena Garibaldi in Pisa) against Sassuolo. On Sunday’s challenge the Apuan coach, Anthony Calabrohe expressed himself during the usual pre-match press conference. Here is what was reported by the club’s official channels:
The team’s update at the end of this first championship break: “I’m satisfied with the team’s attitude in training during this first championship break. It was a useful break and we were able to make the most of it as expected; after all, there was more time to work with two weeks without official commitments, allowing us to recover energy, accurately analyze the mistakes made in previous matches and to unite even more as a group, also favoring the integration of the new arrivals. It’s true that we lost Hermannsson and Shpendi due to their commitments with their respective national teams, but fortunately I have already been able to see their optimal physical and mental condition since they rejoined the rest of the team”.
Sunday’s opponent, Sassuolo: “Sassuolo represents one of the positive realities and among the models, to be taken as an example, of Italian football. They have participated for many years in the Serie A championship, playing important seasons and never appearing there by chance, as a “shooting team”. The players that make up the black-green squad, for the most part, are players accustomed to playing in the top division, and furthermore, their coach was able to win this championship a few years ago. We will therefore face a team of absolute level that will want to win at all costs to achieve the goal of returning to Serie A, starting this year. We will have to face the black-greens with the awareness that we can be annoying, taking advantage of our characteristics, pushed by our fans and stimulated by the prestige of the challenge. Our opponents will have to find, in front of them, a team capable of selling their skin dearly and eager to get back to scoring points”.
On the team’s championship so far: “Since I arrived I have always tried to convey my mentality to the team, that of those who take to the field to win every match, regardless of the opponent. My Carrarese will always play matches with the aim of collecting three points, but we must also be rational and understand that we are participating in a very high-level championship, in which we will face teams with a different structure and ambition than ours. Points must never be an obsession for us, the season will be full of matches, and what is most important to me today is to see in the eyes of the boys the right nastiness, the courageous attitude and the mentality of those who always want to assert themselves. The club, which I thank again, worked hard during the summer, giving me a complete squad in all departments, but, despite this, the dynamics of the transfer market have affected the first seasonal outings, which is why I expect that from now on we can start to see the real Carrarese”.
On the team’s condition: “We have 29 players in the squad, 23 of them will be available for each match. Currently, in this early stage of the season, not all players are at the same level in terms of physical condition, which is why it will be necessary to make careful choices, based on the consideration of some details that only those who live the team 100%, like me and my staff, can understand. For example, Falco and Cavion are two new signings who need no introduction: they can significantly increase the quality of the team, but they are not currently in the best physical condition. All of this forces us to be extremely cautious, keeping their desire to help the team at bay right away but, as previously considered, my collaborators and I will be extremely careful to manage their situations with caution”.
