Francesco Caputo (37 years old) is on the free agent market and is looking for a teamafter the contractual resolution with Empoli dated August 26th. The striker gave an interview to the portal Borderline24.com on the topic: “It was my choice that I had been thinking about for some time. The marriage with Empoli could no longer continue and, in agreement with the Tuscan club, we reached the termination of the contract”.
Is it true that he could have gone to play at Altamura?
“I have great respect for the Altamura club also because I know the president as well as the managers: the sports director Andrea Grammatica is a great friend of mine. There has been direct contact with the coach but, at the moment, it is not a viable path”.
And are there any concrete possibilities?
“I have had many requests, including that of Guido Angelozzi’s Frosinone who knows me well. In fact, I would like to take this opportunity to thank both him and Piero Doronzo because they tried in every way to bring me to the Lazio city. Unfortunately I had to give up for family reasons: I live with my family in Empoli and playing in Frosinone would have been a problem given the distance. But I have also been contacted by Sassuolo, Arezzo, Catania and Virtus Entella”.
And is it true about Bari?
“We have had no contact with Bari and I categorically deny what some press outlets have reported about my candidacy to wear the red and white jersey again. With all due respect to the Bari club, if a call came I would take it into consideration.”
In Empoli he played with Caprile, is he really that strong?
“We have created a great relationship of friendship and mutual respect with him. He has enormous potential and just needs to play to prove his worth and gain self-confidence.”
